Huntsville, Alabama        February 28, 2001

A paper entitled "The Transfer of Energy from a Tornado into the Ground" co-authored by Dr. Frank B. Tatom of VorTek and Dr. Stan Vitton of Michigan Tech appeared in the January - February issue of Seismological Research Letters (SRL).  To emphasize the significance of this topic the SRL editors elected to display the image of a tornado on the cover of the journal.  The resulting interest in this paper led to an article in the February 3rd issue of Science News and also to an interview of Dr. Tatom which was broadcast on February 8th by the Discovery Science Channel.
